What few people knew at the time is that the album was composed in its entirety twice: after a catastrophic disk crash destroyed the original version and one year of work, Villuis entered a period of deep introspection before starting over. Leylines became the foundation for a new compositional language, one built on a fresh sonic palette, renewed patterns, and a more sculptural approach to sound. The final result was more distilled, more intentional, and marked a turning point in his musical trajectory. Upon release, the album reached #1 on the iTunes USA Electronic Music charts, establishing itself as a landmark within the genre.

“OPIA,” is the second Various Artists compilation curated by Danish DJ Christian Samsara. This artfully assembled collection of ten tracks captures the numinous essence of cinematic ambient music, IDM, and electronica, enveloping listeners in atmospheres that transcend the everyday, leading them into a lush sonic landscape. OPIA ideates the ambiguous intensity of eye contact, which can extrapolate to the profound connection between the music and its audience.

With influences ranging across a wide palette of rhythms, patterns, and pads, OPIA invites exploration of the liminal spaces between sound and silence.
