Recorded between 2016 and 2017 in Oakland California, the backbone for each song on Local Crowd was sonically sketched outside of Sauls studio using a Novation Circuit:
“I composed pieces while travelling on planes, staying in hotel rooms, hot nights in my backyard, cold nights in front of a fire. I then transferred each sketch to my studio to to develop further. While composing, I often looked at imagery and maps of the Southern California coast line. I’ve always been fascinated by the dreamy mixture of hazy sun, palm trees, and urban bustle. Local Crowd was composed using the following music instruments and equipment: Novation Circuit, Yamaha TX817, Moog Slim Phatty, Analog RYTM, AKAI MPC 1000, PAIA dual spring reverb, akai s2000, Korg volca sample, korg volca bass, numerous BYOC effects pedals, Delta Lab Effectron2, T.C. Electronics M3000, Ableton Live, Max for Cats, Spektro Audio, Waldorf Largo, and of course my homemade synthesizers Abstractor and Circle 16 along with a homemade Buchla touchplate keyboard.”

Seren Ffordd, who has been recording since 2004, was intrigued by this sense of breaking, of the Fracture where the edge of the sound wave cuts the silence.
This album came out of a wish to hear sound Severed and Shattered. What would a sound sound like if it’s frequencies were Peeled apart, it’s edges Blurred, Curdled, Hacked – merging into and out of each other?

In Fractured, many of the original sounds are unrecognisable. On the album every sound is acoustic in origin, creating unusual textures, dissonances, shades – allowing the evolving themes of each track to develop in a fascinating, storytelling way.

Known for his collaborations with Mathias Grassow and The Circular Ruins, Dato is Tomas first release under his own name. With this album he proves to be one of the leading names when it comes to top notch produced cinematic soundscapes. Finely crafted from beginning to end with a fascinating blend of traditional and contemporary sounds. As Tomas says: “Dato means to me to live musically in the now.

Saul Stokes (USA) is a ambient electronic artist with a number of highly regarded albums to his credit, and a very distinctive sound derived from his hand-forged electronics. Radiate is a startlingly bright and beautiful album, with sonic washes both warm and experimental. It also offers newcomers their best glimpse at the two modes of Stokes’s work , willful improvisation and chilled ambient-techno.
