“So here it is from ambient drone to post-rock, jazz and modern classical, from IDM to experimental to post-digital microsound; hallucinatory electronics to experimental soundscapery, candy-color post-kosmische to alien noise, intergalactic techno to post-hardcore mayhem and broken bass music, these are igloomag’s picks for the year…
There are sections, but these indicate nature, spirit, vibe and feel rather than a genre or sound and style. Of course, in some cases the releases are related in sound and style, but the list was just so big we wanted to facilitate the browse through without cramping style by boxing in with genre boundaries. It also recognizes the diversity of the list, which includes everything and post-everything.”
Martin Nonstatic Granite, AES Dana & Miktek Alkaline and the Digiseeds compilation are included in the first section. No winners or runners-up; all the sections are alphabetized by artist.
We are happy to have Martin Nonstatic‘s Granite feature on Headphone Commute’s Best of 2015 : Music For Awakened Spirits And Open Minds

“As creator of some of the most blissful music, Belgium outfit Wolves and Horses, yet again took us by surprise with its latest instalment. True to its name and beautifully titled Every Moment of Light and Dark, the release stretch over an hour and could be targeted as a long-play listen, especially given its general conformity, but that would also serve as a contradiction, the album in its entirety is meant to be an endless journey ‘towards the within’. You could call it ambient music, for the most part, but there is also a beautiful touch of darkness and ethereal elements that turn the sound into something way above your average ambient listen and truly set the bar high for Wolves and Horses. It is beautiful, enchanting and truly captivating.” – Thesirenssound.com

Francis Harris returns to his own Scissor & Thread label under the Aris Kindt alias with the release of a new album titled Floods. This most recent project has been written in collaboration with longtime friend and guitarist Gabe Hedrick and precedes Harris’ sophomore solo album, Minutes of Sleep, released on the same imprint in 2014.
As stated in a press release, it took the artists over a year to write the entire project, “using a vintage 808, a modular eurorack and two guitars” as main tools.

Apollo Recordings is proud to announce Synkro’s long awaited debut album Changes. Having forged his career in the dubstep era, with nearly 40 releases to his name, Synkro aka Joe McBride has always resisted easy classification – his music winds together such diverse influences as Boards Of Canada, dBridge, Burial and Oneohtrix Point Never, whilst still remaining utterly unique.
We are happy to present and distribute the last 10th releases composed by Matt Hillier aka ISHQ.

NESS (TGP, Dynamic Reflection, Informa Records, Prologue), F/ocal (Ultimae Records) & FEUDO (Less Is Techno) will be performing at Terminal Club (3 rue Terme – 69001 Lyon) on 2nd January 2016. Don’t miss this event!
Once again the dutchman from the north Boris Bunnik (who actually resides in Rotterdam now, but that aside) is showcasing his magic fingers, this time on Shipwrec’s deep techno offshoot Deep Sound Channel. Hinterland is a topnotch ice-cold but heartwarming submarine electro/techno album with distant hints of IDM, in other words the perfect soundtrack for the long midwinter nights to come.
The Ultimae shop and office will be closed during the Christmas holiday from 24th December to 4th January.
We will send the last packages of the year on 24th December in the morning.
A Happy Holiday to you all!
When Recondite aka Lorenz Brunner emerged with his debut LP for Acid Test (2012’s On Acid), we were still learning about the German producer’s inward-looking dance floor sound. A few years later, his sinewy jams have proved near universal – like an underground Zelig, he’s fit perfectly everywhere from Rødhåd’s Dystopian to Ghostly International and Innervisions. Acid Test also allows Recondite the chance to indulge his more outré tendencies and a welcomed return it is.
Written, Produced and Engineered by James Clements aka ASC, here is Fervent Dream, a beautiful Ambient album released on the Canadian label Silent Season.
Digitally Imported radio will be broadcasting the full DIGISEEDS compilation this coming Tursday.
Tune-in at 12pm US Eastern, 5pm UK, 18:00 Central Europe.
Music community and label A Strangely Isolated Place (ASIP) presents “isolatedmix 59 – Inside” by Martin Nonstatic.
Inside invites you closer behind the scenes of Martin Nonstatic‘s studio, through dusty crackled samples, dub chords, layered atmospheres, drones and sonic ideas salvaged from previous live sessions and recordings, found throughout his hardware and recording libraries.
To make the mix even more special, they’ve had three parts of the mix mastered by NikosF and prepared for download over on Bandcamp. There’s a minimal price for the release for the people seeking extra quality, but the actual mix is as always, free to download.

DIGISEEDS is the first chapter in a series of Ultimae compilations conceptualized by Czech artist Lubos Cvrk aka Ambientium. As an electronic music stakhanovite, Lubos brought together composers from all around the world to create a story which slowly enwraps the listener in a soft and eerie ambient reverie. From minimal acoustic patterns melting into intense pads, ethereal dub lines blending with glitch, gentle electronica and a certain neo-classical aesthetics, DIGISEEDS paints new grounds and plays with textures to achieve a soothing and swirling dive in experience for the listener.
Containing five synthesiser-led pieces, Loon was recorded in autumn 2014 across five days at Nils‘s Durton Studio in Berlin, and continues on from the ambient sounds of Stare but with the addition of more percussive elements and dub influences. For this new EP the duo wired an Oberheim 4 Voice and a Korg PS3100 to the mixing desk and performed live takes on both instruments. With all four hands on its pots, all mixes were recorded straight onto 2-track ½-inch tape.
